A down-on-her-luck shop girl and the son of an earl find they have more in common than they’d think—including sexual chemistry they can’t resist—in this fresh Regency romance by Shana Galen.
Tamsin Archer might just be having the worst year of her life. And that’s saying something, considering her father is dead, her mother was maimed at work, and her family regularly sleeps under London’s bridges. But when her younger siblings go missing, Tamsin decides it’s time to step up and fight.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Tamsin’s more than willing to take a few risks to reunite with her siblings. But while disguising herself to sneak into homes and steal from the rich, Tamsin is caught by Garrett Kildaire, an earl’s second son and the biggest threat she’s faced yet. Thinking quickly, Tamsin strikes a Garrett will get her into the exclusive places she needs to continue her search, and she’ll give him what he wants—her.
Garrett knows he must be careful—being seen with a woman of a lower class could be the nail in the coffin for his family’s tenuous social standing. But resisting their chemistry proves impossible, and soon there’s much more between them than their bargain. But there are eyes everywhere, and as more focus lands on Tamsin and Garret, the unlikely pair wonder if their red-hot connection means giving up everything—and everyone—they’ve ever known.
Amanda: Any historical that starts with the heroine sneaking into the hero’s home gets an automatic look from me.

Off the Record

Author: Sara Goodman Confino
Released: June 9, 2026 by Lake Union Publishing
Genre: Historical: American, Mystery/Thriller, Romance
An aspiring newspaper reporter comes across a mystery that threatens to turn the Cold War hot in a funny, thrilling, and strictly undercover romantic comedy by the bestselling author of Don’t Forget to Write.
In 1962, opportunities are typically few for nice Jewish girls clacking away at ninety words per minute in a newspaper typing pool. Except Judy Greenberg isn’t typical. An aspiring reporter in DC, she’s aiming for journalistic greatness—not finding a husband. Just don’t tell her mother.
Then one day she answers her boss’s private line. The message is curiously cryptic. It’s also delivered in a Russian accent. Judy is certain she has stumbled upon a scoop. Charming reporter Jack Fields isn’t one to dismiss Judy’s instincts. Perfect. A seasoned ally she can trust, not to mention pass off as a pretend boyfriend around her relieved parents. Together, they’re following the leads—from a clandestine hotel bar to the dressing room of a slinky Cuban nightclub singer to an exhilarating underground of secrets and spies stretching from Moscow to Havana to Texas.
Now Judy must choose between the safe life expected of her or one hell of a dangerous story that could make her career. She might even fall in love for real. If her ambitions don’t get her killed.
Dahlia: SGC occupies such a unique space, mashing up genres within historical through a Jewish lens (and always with humor and heart), and it’s always a trip to see what she’ll do next. This one sounds like a romantic wild ride and I am definitely on board.
The Summer Girlfriend

Author: Kristina Forest
Released: June 9, 2026 by Berkley
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romance
Series: Heart Beach #1
A stand-in girlfriend and a handsome business heir find that their fake summer fling is feeling way too real in this new romance by USA Today bestselling author Kristina Forest.
Noelle Lewis doesn’t have time for long walks on the beach, brunch with the girls, or summer vacations. She’s too busy saving up to go back to college. After recently getting laid off from her bookseller job, her main gig is now serving as a “stand-in” bridesmaid, which doesn’t pay enough for the upcoming semester’s tuition. But then the perfect, if not unconventional, opportunity arises…
Jeremiah Smith II, grandson of the founder of Smith’s Sweets—a well-known baked goods company—once lived a life of frivolity. Since his grandfather’s death, Jeremiah’s tried to clean up his act, but it’s hard to focus when his family requests that he join them at their summer house in Heart Beach, New Jersey, where his most painful memory lies. To avoid going there, Jeremiah claims he already has plans with his girlfriend, and of course, his family tells him to bring her. The problem? Jeremiah doesn’t have a girlfriend.
After a chance meeting, Noelle and Jeremiah come to an agreement. He’ll hire her to be his stand-in girlfriend for the weekend, and she’ll use that money toward her tuition. She figures it will be quick, easy money, but as it turns out, Jeremiah’s family is lovely, and Jeremiah is even lovelier. Soon, a weekend agreement turns into an entire summer, and Noelle and Jeremiah will have to keep their hearts in check, or else it’s sink or swim for them both.
Dahlia: Kristina Forest is a personal fave I followed from YA to Adult who falls firmly in my “If she writes it, I’ll read it” category. She’s particularly skilled at making tropes feel fresh and believable to me, so I’m excited to see what she does with a fake relationship here!
Tentacles and Triathlons

Author: Ashley Bennett
Released: June 9, 2026 by Berkley
Genre: LGBTQIA, Paranormal, Romance
Series: Leviathan Fitness #2
When a grumpy park ranger meets a charming kraken, love might be worth the swim upstream in this sexy monster romance.
There is only one thing holding back Briar Glenn Parks Department supervisor Reece Rollins from success in his upcoming triathlon—his subpar swimming skills. At the urging of his sister’s wolven mate, Reece joins Leviathan Fitness to train in the gym’s Olympic-size pool. There he meets Cyrus, a charming kraken with unparalleled skill in the pool, and many, many tentacles that both intimidate and intrigue Reece. When Cyrus offers to coach Reece for his race, he happily accepts the help.
For the past few months, Cyrus has been floating through life without his usual spark. He’s even hit a creative block with his painting and hasn’t been able to produce a new piece of artwork in a while. But the opportunity to train this handsome human grump gives Cyrus something real to smile about.
New and unexpected feelings begin to arise from the depths as Reece and Cyrus start to spend time together in and out of the water. But can both men let down their guards enough to be swept away by love?
Elyse: As a kid my favorite movie was The Creature from the Black Lagoon, so I’ll read any sea monster romance.
