Coast Guard building facilities and Alaska base as it expands operations in the Arctic

The Coast Guard will spend more than $300 million to expand operations at its base on Kodiak Island, Alaska, to counter growing maritime activity by rival countries such as Russia and China in the U.S. Arctic and Alaska's exclusive economic zone.
